(Not using the Hidden Profiles feature but would like to? Contact us at support@zapnito.com.)
You may occasionally receive requests from users asking you to update the profile visibility settings associated to their account on your Zapnito site.
If you are utilising the Hidden Profiles feature on your site, you have the ability to hide a user’s profile so that it no longer appears in search results or directories.
Note that if they perform a visible action like commenting or asking a question, their name and avatar will be visible. Moreover, content created by a user with a hidden profile will continue to be returned in content search results.
Ensure your Profile Visibility features are enabled
You will find these feature flags at the bottom of the 'Registration Settings' page. Here you can configure all newly-registered users to be visible or hidden by default, whilst also enable users to edit their own profile visibility settings.
Update a user's profile visibility on their behalf
If a user has requested that you make their profile visible or hidden on your site, you will first need to go to the Users page found under the cog at the top right corner of your screen.
Search for the user in question and assume control of their account, by clicking the three vertical dots to the right of their name and selecting 'Login'.
Once you are signed in as the desired user, head to the avatar in the top right corner of the page and click Edit Profile. Scroll down the edit profile page until you find the Visibility section.
Here you can click the toggle to choose whether you want the user’s profile to be visible or hidden from directories and search results (don’t forget to hit save once you’re done).
Verify that the setting has been updated
To make sure that your changes have been saved successfully, perform a quick search for the user to confirm that they are, or are no longer, returned in search results.
If the Hide my profile toggle is disabled, you should no longer be able to search for the user in question, and vice versa.
