Here’s a guide for admins to updating a user’s account type from person to organisation and vice versa.
Sometimes a user may be set up as the wrong type of user, and you need to change them from a person to an organisation, or vice versa.
(Note that you will need to be in a group with the 'Manage users' ability to change a user’s type. If you would like to check your site's group abilities, let us know at email@example.com)
First, head to the cog in the top right hand corner of the page and select 'Users'.
When you’ve reached the Users page, scroll down or search for the user whose account type you are looking to change. Once you’ve found them, scan across to the right hand side of the page for the vertical ellipses and select Edit.
At the top of the page you’ll see the option to change the user type, from Person to Organisation or the other way round.
Note that when a user's profile type is updated, they will be removed from their existing groups and added to the default group of the profile type that you have selected. This may cause the user to lose publishing or admin rights.
To ensure that the user retains the correct permissions, you will need to add them to the relevant groups on your site. If you are unsure of how to do this, please refer to this guide.
