Bitly enables you to track when users are sharing content from your site using a customisable URL. Here's a guide to configuring this within Zapnito.
Prerequisites
Before you proceed, you will of course need to set-up a Bitly account for your Organisation. To learn more about Bitly's features and to start creating your account, click here.
You will also need to enable the 'Bitly URL Shortening' feature flag in your Authoring Settings. To do this, click the cog in the top right-hand corner of the page and select Settings. From here, scroll down to the Configuration header where you will find the 'Authoring Settings' tile.
Generate a generic access token
To integrate with Bitly it is necessary to provide an OAuth access token for authentication. To generate this within Bitly, click the account name in the top right-hand corner of the page and select 'Profile Settings'.
You should then navigate to the 'Generic Access Token' tab, where you will be prompted to enter your password in order to generate the token.
When you have copied the token to your clipboard, returning to your Zapnito community, head back to the Configuration section of your site's settings and click the 'General Settings' tile.
Finally, paste the token in the API Key field ('Username' can be left blank) and hit save.
As soon as this is complete, your Zapnito users will be able to share community content using shortened Bitly URLs.
